About us
The Courtyard Gallery provides a much needed platform in East Cork for both local artists and those from further afield to exhibit their work.
Originally established as an exhibition centre in 2000 by Maighread Hyde, the baton was passed in 2005 to Anne Ahern, its then manager, and Sue van Coppenhagen, a local artist. Anne and Sue formed Courtyard Arts Limited in 2005 and since then have constantly expanded its scope, offering the viewer a great variety of art to enjoy.
In addition to hosting solo and group exhibitions, the gallery also has a permanent display of paintings in the Art Source Network showroom. These are available for immediate sale, or buyers can by consultation with one of the member artists commission a piece to meet their particular requirements.
The gallery has two purpose-built classrooms where workshops are held during the day as well as in the evenings. Practising artists share their expertise in weekly classes, and visiting tutors conduct weekend workshops. Younger artists are also catered for throughout the year, with ongoing Saturday workshops for 6 to 12 year olds and art camps during the summer holidays.
